COSTUM JEWELRY WORKSHOP: initial level

BEGINNING SEPT. 7 ENDING OCT. 19

During the 7 classes of this whorkshop we’re going to learn different techniques for making custom jewelry, the basic tools, the commond materials used and findings and where you can find them.

SEPTEMBER

Sept.7.: day one I’ll introduce students to the projects and the materials and tools and where they could find them for the workshop ( MICHAELS, ANIMA’S BEADS and THUNDERBIRD)


Sept.14.: Polymer clay pendant, ring, earring, brooch (Part 1) :
· 3 blocks sculpey III (2oz) in a different and contrast colors.
· Acrylic roller(Rodillo plástico).
· Slicing blade (cuchilla)
· Cd box
· Needle tool (punzon)
· Aluminum foil (Papel de aluminio)
· Baby wipes
· 1 tupperware and a pair of little boxes
· Findings: adjustable base ring, head pins or T pins (bastones cabeza de alfiler), lobster claw assembled end cap (mosqueton montado), hook earwire (gancho hippie), bar pins (broches), cord (cordon).
· Tools: round nose pliers, flush cutter, chain nose or flat nose.

Sept.21.: Polymer clay pendant, ring, earring, brooch (Part 2) :
· 3 blocks sculpey III (2oz) in a different and contrast colors.
· Acrylic roller(Rodillo plástico).

· Baby wipes
· 1 tuperware and a pair of little boxes
· Findings: adjustable base rings, head pins (bastones cabeza de alfiler), lobster claw assembled end cap (mosqueton montado), hook earwire (gancho hippie), bar pins (broches), cord (cordon).
· Tools: round nose pliers, side cutter, chain nose or flat nose pliers.



Sept.28.: Finish the last exercise. Ring, pendant and earrings in wrapped copper wire and beads:

· Coloured beads in a different sizes, forms and materials. (If you have any old or broken jewelry you can use their beads for this )
· A thin needle.
· Tools: round nose pliers, flush cutter, chain nose or flat nose
· Ring measurer (the teacher)
· 1 reel craft copper wire 0.3mm, 1 reel 0.4mm and 1 reel 0.6mm. If you couldn’t find all gauges bring what you found. Colours are welcome.
· 1m cord, 1 lobster claw assembled end cap, 2 hook earwire.


OCTOBER

Oct.5.: Finish the previous exercise and begin Decoupage necklace:

· Natural wood beads (without paint or finish).
· Decoupagé varnish-glue.
· Paintbrush.
· Plastic glass.
· Printed kleenex or napkins.
· Scissors.
· Chopsticks and skewers (palillos de comida china y pinchos morunos).
· 2.5m cord, tools and 1 lobster claw assembled end cap.


Oct.12.: Felt brooch, ring, pendant, bracelet:

· FINDINGS: hook earwire , adjustable base rings, bar pins (broches), 1 lobster claw assembled end cap.
· A piece of wire 0.6mm to be a needle (if you have a wool, or darning needle bring it).
· Superglue
· 3 colors of craft wool felt fabric.
· 2 Scissors.
· A quarter, a pencil.
· (needle and wire 0.3mm gauge for the 3d project)



Oct.19.: Finished the last exercise . Wire wrapped pendant:


· 3 differents sizes of any kind of tube, like gluestick or empty prescription bottle, etc.
· Coloured beads in a different sizes, forms and materials. (If you have any old or broken jewelry you can use their beads for this ).
· 1 reel craft copper wire 0.3mm, 1 reel 0.4mm and 1 reel 0.6mm. If you couldn’t find all gauges bring what you found. Colours are wellcomen.
· 1m cord, 1 lobster claw assembled end cap.
· Tools: round nose pliers, flush cutter, chain nose or flat nose.
